I'm obsessed with oils. I admit it. I'm a beauty oil junkie and I cannot be saved. I'm not sure when this obsession with beauty oils started, since I was long the believer in the idea that putting oil on my skin was going to turn me into a walking breakout or that putting it on my hair was going to make me look like I hadn't showered in a week. Either way, I'm officially a convert to beauty oils of all sorts and I tend to use them pretty regularly. From cleansing oils to remove makeup and buildup on my skin to hair, body and face oils that nourish and moisturize, beauty oils have become a part of my daily beauty routine over the past couple of years and there seems to be no stopping this train. Recently, I've been testing out the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil FACE*, which contains ingredients to moisturize the face as well as anti-aging and brightening ingredients.

I am a grown person. As a grown person, I have skin issues like everyone else. For me, dehydrated skin that doesn't bounce back quite like it used to is probably my biggest issue and the one that I'm constantly on the lookout for products to combat. I also want to take steps to keep my skin young and vibrant, with a bright, even complexion. Not too much to ask, right? Not necessarily when winter hits the prairies. With temperatures dropping to extremes and pretty much no moisture in the air, your skin takes a beating and needs some serious skin care TLC to deal with it. For me, I find that sometimes oils are the best TLC that you can give.

The 10 different oils that make up this product include a Who's Who of beauty oils: Sweet Almond Oil, Sesame Oil, Coconut Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Apricot Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Camelina Oil, Sunflower Oil, Rosehip Oil and Argan Oil. This product also contains Cocoa Butter,Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Retinol and Cetesomate-E™ Complex to aid in quick absorbance into the skin. There is a slight rose scent to this product, which may be a selling point or a killer depending on your preferences. Generally, I would be in the latter category since rose scents have never been my thing, but I don't find the scent to be particularly noticeable on the skin with this product so I don't have any problem with that.

This product has a dropper, which makes it incredibly easy to get just the right amount to apply to your skin. I find that about one-quarter to one-third of the dropper is enough to cover my face and neck easily. I like to put this into the palm of my hand and smooth it over my skin with my fingers, rubbing any excess into my cuticles for a little extra moisture there.

The claims that this product makes are as follows:
  • Helps improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, uneven tone and texture and aging skin
  • Visibly rejuvenates skin for a youthful complexion
  • This year-round dry oil is the ideal companion for attaining desirable, hydrated skin
  • Promotes elasticity and suppleness while soothing chapped, parched skin
  • Dry oil is non-greasy and won’t leave residue
After using this regularly for a few weeks, I've found that the biggest improvement in my skin has been overall hydration. I prefer to use this at the end of my nighttime skin routine, about a half hour to an hour before I go to bed. I find that I do have to wait a few minutes for this to sink into my skin, but once it has I can lay my head down on my pillow with no worries of leaving a greasy residue there. I find that when I wake up in the morning, even though the house is incredibly dry at this time of year, my skin feels supple and hydrated. One thing I worry about with any oil product is whether or not it is going to clog more pores and I haven't had any problem with that. In fact, I haven't really had any significant breakouts since I've been using this product. While I haven't seen any initial improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, I do think that this has improved the overall texture of my skin, which is always one of my main issues with my skin.

Overall, I think that this product is going to be in regular rotation in my skincare routine throughout the rest of the winter at the very least. It's a solid product that gets the job of giving my skin a good dose of deep moisture done without any troubling side effects thus far!
